The Center for Active Learning announces the new screening dates for 2011 @ Brooklyn LaunchPad. BCAT-TV special, Learning in Motion, airs on December 21, 2010 @ 6:30 PM.

November 2010

November 2010: The Center for Active Learning interviews Mr. Donald Goldstein of the City University of New York’s Brooklyn College about group discussions in adult learning settings.

October 2010

The Center for Active Learning launched its Learning in Motion Educational Film Series with a screening of The Defiant Ones. The film series is currently focused on diversity, an idea stimulated by an experience in a kosher Brooklyn eatery called Basil. Read more about the inspiration for the idea in the New York Times

Seniors at Saratoga Square Houses in Brooklyn, NY participated in an Addiction Awareness workshop hosted by Joanna White-Oldham. This workshop was designed to help seniors identify potential addicts in order protect themselves from being taken advantage of.

The Center for Active Learning’s hosted its first intergenerational event.The seniors of Kingsborough Walk sat down with the fifth graders of PS 335, to enjoy a conversation about gang violence and peer pressure. The event, hosted by the Center for Active Learning founder, Joanna White-Oldham, was sponsored by Councilmember Darlene’s Mealy’s office.  Community liaison, Arna Lipkind, attended the event on the Councilmember's behalf.  Nicholas Ray's iconic film Rebel Without a Cause, was used as a discussion prompt.
